Instructions for S8 Screen Replacement

Step One: iOpener Heating and Preparing

  1. Heat iOpener in the microwave for 30 seconds and reheat as needed throughout the repair procedure
  2. Apply the heated iOpener to a long edge on your S8 for approximately 2 minutes
  3. Place the suction cup onto the rear glass as close to the edge as possible without going near the curved edges
  4. Gently lift the suction cup and slide the halberd spudger down the phone to break up the adhesive
  5. Reheat iOpener and repeat for all sides, leaving an opening pick in each
  6. Remove the glass from the phone

The sensor cable is short and orange with a blue connector. If you feel like the cable is snagged or seems to be taut, stop, reread this Digital Supply USA guide and disconnect before moving onto the next step.

Step Two: Clean Up

  1. Remove the old adhesive from the S8
  2. Clean the edges with isopropyl alcohol

Step Three: Open Up

  1. Remove 11 Phillips #000 screws
  2. Remove NFC antenna and coil assembly
  3. Using the flat end of the spudger, disconnect the battery connector
    • You don’t have to remove it
  4. Using the same flat end, disconnect the display and digitizer connector
  5. Reheat iOpener and apply to the edges of your S8 for two minutes
  6. Reapply the suction cup on the back, avoiding the curved edges
  7. Gently lift the suction cup and insert halberd spudger or an opening pick under the display assembly

Know which side of the phone has the display and digitizer connect and pry on the opposite side of that.

Step Four: Repair

  1. Reheat the iOpener
  2. Slide the haldberd spudger down the sides of the phone to break up the glue, leaving an opening pick in each by inserting the long edge as opposed to the pointy tip
  3. Using an opening card, gently pry the screen from the midframe
  4. Carefully lift away from display connector through the hole in the midframe
  5. Use tweezers to remove any leftover adhesive
  6. Repeat these steps backwards to reassemble your S8
